Another tooth!
Monday, August 31st, 2009WALKING?!?!?
Friday, August 21st, 2009So … on Monday … Marshall took his first real steps. He spontaneously stood up in the middle of the room and took a step … then fell.
Each day this week he’s gone a little bit further … usually from one person to another. Going from Mommy to objects – just makes me nervous – I mean the door can reach out and catch him if he’s falling right?
We had the pleasure of family in town – so he had lots of people to walk back and forth to. By Saturday — he could go about 6 feet! I was amazed … thinking OMG he’s gonna be running by Tuesday (and the dream I had about a child running as fast as “Dash” from The Incredibles didn’t help alleviate my anxieties!
Unfortunately … a severe cold has come in the way of further progress … well that and just hanging with Mommy. Marshall has been sick since last Friday. Doc diagnosed him with “severe chest congestion” and he just hasn’t been himself. He’s super clingy and not as energetic as usual. He sleeps more and doesn’t want to eat. Overall … just a sick little boy. So the walking has slowed slightly … but he’s still working on it. We even went and bought him some uber-cute new soft soled shoes (though he’d much rather be barefoot!).
As soon as he’s back to himself I’m sure he’ll be moving again!
Whew …
Great visit from Karchers!!
Sunday, August 16th, 2009Last week/weekend we had a wonderful visit from Honey, Papa and Uncles Josh and Tyler. They came out on Wednesday night and stuck around until Saturday afternoon. We had so much fun with them – going to Tiny Tots at the library and OMSI with Honey … reading books and walking around in a fun backpack carrier with Papa … hanging with our uncles … eating yummy food … and generally just hanging out.
Steps towards walking
Thursday, August 13th, 2009So when Marshall turned 1 I thought we had some time before he’d start walking … he was pretty happy just sitting with Mommy or Daddy and crawling to get where he wanted to go.
Then … he decided he wanted to go to things – while standing. This week has been MONUMENTAL! Last week he took a few steps here and there … but this Monday he spontaneously stood up in the middle of the room and took a couple steps – then toppled. Every day since has been a couple more. He really likes going back and forth – either from me to Daddy or me to Natalie. He gets pretty excited and it’s so nice to get the hug from a toddling boy.
So far he still looks like a drunk sailor and really only takes a couple steps here and there. But he wants to walk – and he’s comfortable walking forward holding a hand.
Guess we don’t have much longer before we’re chasing him all over! Whee!
