Another Busy week

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I don’t even know where to start … this one’ll be short and sweet.

Marshall signing like crazy – ball, eat, more, flowers … more things that I’m actually having trouble understanding … he’s like a little sponge!!

He’s cruising more and more … and standing independently – little by little more and more. Mostly when he doesn’t realize it. He’ll be standing up with something in one hand – then lets go of the other. It’s very cute.

11 months and Dads day

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

We had a great weekend … Marshall turned 11 months old (yes … one more month and he’ll be 1 year old … CRAZY!). He now has 6 teeth … I must say that after the first four – the last 2 have been rather anti-climatic. Marshall didn’t really indicate that they had come through … he just chews on his fingers – all the time! I say – as long as it helps you feel better go for it kiddo!

He’s started standing up unsupported – a little more every day. Natalie is much more encouraging with the walking thing – I am still ok with him not walking so I don’t encourage him as much as I probably should. For now … I’m ok with him still crawling. NO RUSH … I say – hee hee.

We have completed 3 weeks of sign language classes … have learned a bunch of songs and words – our favorites are ball, more, eat, cat, flower, what, see, duck … this week we learned about food stuff (vegetables, fruit, apple). We also use stop, wait, gentle and share. As our little dude wants more and more to exert what HE wants … those are getting lots of use!!

We’re back to normal with eating … he is loving everything I can give him. I really need to get a little more creative soon … while nutritious – chicken, cheese, broccoli and toast will get boring eventually. We have been giving him some home grown fruit (raspberries and strawberries) from our backyard. Can’t wait for peaches, cherries, pears, blueberries … man did we hit the jackpot with the garden here! And Daddy is growing tomatoes, squash, asparagus and peppers … so exciting!!

We went to Jen for photos – 11 month documentation and some cute Baby & Daddy photos … very cute!!

My First Dad’s Day

A day for dads

A day for dads

Dad’s Day

Well, Father’s day has come and gone, and this was the first ‘official’ one for me (MJ was still in mommies belly the last time).

My day started about as good as you could ask. Mommy let me sleep in for the first time in awhile (Marshall gets up between 5:30 – 6:30 usually).  So, even if we did nothing else for the rest of the day, I was set.

We also had an appointment for some special dad and son pics at our favorite photrographer Jen at All that Jazz Photography in Beaverton. We’ve been going to her from the beginning, and we always get what we want.  This time, we got some great shots of MJ with his dad (that’s me!), as well as some solo pics of him as well (see that little guy over there on the right of the blog page?). He discovered a cool, squishy yellow ball that he just would’nt put down, so Jen actually let him take it home!  What a deal!

My thought was to grab lunch at Sonic Drive-Thru. I always have this image in my head of how good their burgers and cheese tots are.  But, after downing a combo meal, I’ve come to the conclusion that what I imagine in my head is not always reality (yes, it was nasty). The cherry limeade slushes are always the best, though, so I highly recommend one those bad boys if you happen to come across a Sonic in your travels.  Also, be sure and tip the waitstaff; judging from our waitress’s reaction, I don’t think they see tips all that often.

We were planning to head to the zoo after our photo shoot, but both mom and baby were pretty worn out, so we decided to head home. It gave mom and dad the chance to look over the pics and check out the ones we liked. There’s a few in the new batch that are keepers, so keep a lookout for new pics soon!

All in all, I’d say I had a great first (official) Father’s Day. After all, any day with the fam is a great one!

Whew what a weekend

Monday, June 15th, 2009

This weekend was another fun-filled action packed weekend! I had ordered a push car thing for Marshall – a “walker” – and was excited and nervous to see him use it. Finally on Sunday I got up the nerve and with Daddy’s help our boy was off and running … literally … across our small living room. It was fun and scary and amazing to watch him go … he was definitely so excited and Mommy was so nervous about him totally taking a header. But he didn’t … our little dude is so amazing! Here’s a little video

He also got to play on the computer for a bit … OOOO BOY!!

He’s also feeling better … not 100% yet but getting there. The biggest reason I can tell he’s not back to normal is his appetite. Our little Hoover is no longer a little Hoover. He is much more picky about what stays in his mouth … has started spitting out food (yuck) and doesn’t want much. I’m very much hoping that this will pass … in the meantime I accept that he just wants breast milk and cheese.

He’s also making lots of new sounds … “nana” and “th” and “ssss” and “zzzz” … mixing things up and we think maybe saying “cat” or “at” as it’s coming out. It usually starts with “dat” then “at” … Natalie swears he said “cat” and I think I’ve heard it too … funny since my first word was “kitty”. heh.

The other big thing that happened was that after Daddy recovered from the yuck that took everyone out of commission – he was able to join his dragonboat team, the “Splashdragons” for the final race – which they won – taking FIRST in their division!! YAY!!
