6 months

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Well … skipped a week of blogging, but I think I can make up for it … and still try to stick to my new years resolution. :)

This week was … amazing. Marshall turned 6 months old on the same day that Barack Obama took office as our new president.  I don’t usually let MJ watch TV … but this day was a special occasion. On this day, America welcomed change in the form a new president — one who brings with him hope for our futures (if  his first few days in office are any indication) and hopefully much positive change for this country. It also marks a moment in history, as he is the first black president to take office here in the US. An amazing day for MJ to turn 1/2 year old …

Marshall actually took little interest in the happenings on TV. However, this week has been filled with lots of ooooo ooooo’s … and singing along to everything. So when Aretha came on to sing God Bless America – Marshall of course sang along.  Yes … it brought tears to my eyes.

The past two weeks have been filled lots of firsts … first peas (tonite), pulling himself along the floor a little (mostly to get to Mommy and/or the kitties), pulling his knees up under himself and the nanny claims he was up on all fours rocking (but we haven’t seen it first hand yet though). I’ve also been bringing him into bed with me in the mornings — cuz I’m usually quite tired still and it’s such a wonderful feeling to have him fall asleep next to me. At night and for other naps he’s still in the crib (which we just lowered the mattress on) … but I’m enjoying his cute cuddliness nonetheless.

On Friday we had our 6 month well-baby checkup. All’s well — MJ is 18 lbs 7.1 oz, 26.5 inches long and his head is 44 cm around … he’s right in the middle of the “percentages” for all things … and tracking pretty much as he has his whole life. Overall … life is good in our household. Today and yesterday have been a little terrible — a couple of major pukes for the baby and a slight fever. According to the docs … all normal after vaccinations.

Posting pics soon from 5 month and 6 month photo shoots … as soon as I find time!

New Years … resolution

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

So I’ve been terrible remiss in blogging for the past several months … so much as happened I won’t even TRY to catch up … but in the spirit of a New Year and resolutions … mine is to blog at least once a week.

So … here we go with week 1 of 2009.

Marshall is almost 6 months old! Amazing how quickly half a year has gone by. Christmas and New Years were fairly mellow at our home … the biggest present our family got was a new house … and LOTS of snow!!

We really enjoyed the time at home and were very cozy in our new house for that week …

New Years was also rather uneventful. I was just talking to a friend about how this new years came and went and for some reason the only reason I know it’s a new year is because I’m writing 2009 on everything now. Our “celebration” was a couple friends who came over to celebrate with pizza and beer (it was also their anniversary) … Marshall was in bed at his usual time and though we all stayed up to watch a very creepy Dick Clark ring in the new year … we all retired not long after.

Ah … we are definitely getting old!

Since then Marshall has been practicing his sitting up (and getting quite good at it). He’s eating rice cereal (first was on New Years Day) and has taken to it quite nicely. He’s making ALL kinds of sounds – from ooo’s and ahhh’s to mmmm’s and bbbbb’s and ffff’s and flllll’s and frrrrr’s and dadadada lll the list really going ON AND ON! He likes to chat!!

He’s adorable in every way and we’re so happy everyday to have such a healthy little dude in our lives.

I promise to be better about blogging this year … selfishly it helps me keep track of his progress as his little life goes flying by!
