Great visit from Karchers!!

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

Last week/weekend we had a wonderful visit from Honey, Papa and Uncles Josh and Tyler. They came out on Wednesday night and stuck around until Saturday afternoon. We had so much fun with them – going to Tiny Tots at the library and OMSI with Honey … reading books and walking around in a fun backpack carrier with Papa … hanging with our uncles … eating yummy food … and generally just hanging out.

A day for dads

A day for dads

Dad’s Day

Well, Father’s day has come and gone, and this was the first ‘official’ one for me (MJ was still in mommies belly the last time).

My day started about as good as you could ask. Mommy let me sleep in for the first time in awhile (Marshall gets up between 5:30 – 6:30 usually).  So, even if we did nothing else for the rest of the day, I was set.

We also had an appointment for some special dad and son pics at our favorite photrographer Jen at All that Jazz Photography in Beaverton. We’ve been going to her from the beginning, and we always get what we want.  This time, we got some great shots of MJ with his dad (that’s me!), as well as some solo pics of him as well (see that little guy over there on the right of the blog page?). He discovered a cool, squishy yellow ball that he just would’nt put down, so Jen actually let him take it home!  What a deal!

My thought was to grab lunch at Sonic Drive-Thru. I always have this image in my head of how good their burgers and cheese tots are.  But, after downing a combo meal, I’ve come to the conclusion that what I imagine in my head is not always reality (yes, it was nasty). The cherry limeade slushes are always the best, though, so I highly recommend one those bad boys if you happen to come across a Sonic in your travels.  Also, be sure and tip the waitstaff; judging from our waitress’s reaction, I don’t think they see tips all that often.

We were planning to head to the zoo after our photo shoot, but both mom and baby were pretty worn out, so we decided to head home. It gave mom and dad the chance to look over the pics and check out the ones we liked. There’s a few in the new batch that are keepers, so keep a lookout for new pics soon!

All in all, I’d say I had a great first (official) Father’s Day. After all, any day with the fam is a great one!

A wonderful visit with Tucker & Kelsey

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Our cousins Tucker & Kelsey from Boise came to visit Portland for a day today … the went to OMSI … then wanted to go to the Evergreen Aviation Museum (Tucker is going to the Air Force Academy in a couple weeks – and can’t wait to spread his wings!

Marshall enjoyed the planes and rockets … and hanging out with Kelsey & Tucker!

Visiting Texas

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

We had a wonderful visit to Texas this last week. We had a little bit of a rocky start … we thought we were golden when he crashed on the first leg of our 3 leg trip … but after that short 30 minute nap – little Marshall was WAY too excited to take any more naps … for the rest of the day!! He enjoyed checking out all the cool stuff outside his window on the plane!

Then when we got to Texas he was so excited to see his MawMaw and PawPaw again! We got our luggage and promptly headed to Chuy’s for a late lunch with our friend Mark, Shannon and CW – as well as Marshall’s Aunt Kim and Cousin Baylee. I could have died of happiness surrounded by fresh chips, salsa and queso …honestly the one thing that could draw me back to Texas is the food!!

But I digress …

We then headed to Gatesville and Marshall got to meet Daddy’s side of the family.

He enjoyed playing pi-pie (peek-a-boo) with PawPaw and listening to MawMaw sing The Itsy Bitsy Spider.

He also LOVED watching his cousin Baylee – doing anything … … play her violin – sing … dance. He liked it all!

We had breakfast at Maria’s with Monica and Dave – who are expecting their first in a few months. Then we got to hang with our friends Mark and Shannon … the highlight of which was watching Marshall and their son Charles interact! It’s gonna be so fun watching those two grow up!!

As we creep up to MJs 9 month birthday (OMG!) I am amazed that within the next few months – he will probably take his first steps, possibly start walking, turn one year … and who the heck knows what else? So much has happened over the last couple weeks … I can’t imagine what the next few will bring!
